Pointless Peace Proposals

Circumstances change; so do the names of the leading players. Peace negotiators come and go; so do the details of their agreements. But in the end, one aspect of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict remains the same: When all else has failed, you can be absolutely certain that someone, somewhere, will issue a statement calling for peace.

There has been no shortage of such declarations the past few days. In the wake of Israeli attacks on Gaza, Ban Ki-moon, the U.N. secretary general, appealed "to all members of the international community to display the unity and commitment required to bring this escalating crisis to an end." Javier Solana, the European Union's foreign policy spokesman, called for a halt to hostilities. "The cease-fire has to be a cease-fire complied [with] by everybody and be clearly maintained," he proclaimed. "What we need," echoed the British prime minister, Gordon Brown, "is an immediate cease-fire."

Interesting letter from a pilot....

Dad sent out an email from a man named Pat Gilmore, who was a pilot for Delta on September 11. Being the ultimate skeptic, I did a google on it.  Its real. Very real.

In fact, on the blog where I ultimately read "the rest of the story", Pat relates his surprise to seeing his letter to a group of friends making the "internet rounds".

Read it (Click here). Its worth the time.

SC: Gitmo Prisoners can challenge detention

Un-farkin-believable. We allow animals that want to see our ultimate destruction access to our court system, so they can save their own collective asses?  What kind of crap is that?  They should be ashamed.

Supreme Court Lets Guantanamo Prisoners Challenge Detention in U.S. Courts
WASHINGTON —

A divided Supreme Court ruled Thursday that foreign terrorism suspects held at Guantanamo Bay have rights under the Constitution to challenge their detention in U.S. civilian courts.

The justices, in a 5-4 ruling, handed the Bush administration its third setback at the high court since 2004 over its treatment of prisoners who are being held indefinitely and without charges at the U.S. naval base in Cuba.

Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote the majority opinion and was joined by Justices John Paul Stevens, Stephen Breyer, David Souter and Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Dissenting were Chief Justice John Roberts, Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito.

Fitna - Geert Wilders' Video that no one wants you to see....

An amazing video.

The muslims hate it.

Politicians are quaking in their collective boots, hoping the whackadoo extremists in Europistan (aka the Islamic Confederation Europe) don't react and behave too badly.

Judge for yourself whether our Muslim Brethren deserve the benefit of the doubt.  Personally, I think . . . not.

Here's the video...

The world will not answer these questions

http://www.JewishWorldReview.com | The world applauded when Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005, forcibly removing Jewish settlers. At last, the Palestinians were free to show how they could build their own society.

But what did they do with their freedom? They elected the terrorist organization Hamas in 2006. First Fatah and now Hamas have rained 4,000 rockets on Israel, killed 24, and wounded 620 the equivalent of killing 1,200 Americans and wounding 31,000. The citizens of Sderot and Ashkelon have suffered a collective trauma; children fear that when parents leave for work, they will never see them again.

And what does the world do?

3238It criticizes Israel Israel! for a "disproportionate" response. Israel is discriminating in trying to defend its people. It attacks Gaza's rocket launchers, weapons factories, and terrorists, all hidden in civilian areas.

What is a proportionate response? None at all, it seems.
