Donut Bread Pudding

This recipe came from Big Mistah's Blog at http://www.thesurvivalgourmet.com. I haven't tried it, but it does sound good.

In my last post, I listed my menu for a party I catered. Ever since then, people have been asking for the Donut Bread pudding recipe. I actually got the recipe from my girl Paula Deen on the Food Network. Of course, I had to make a few adjustments for my taste. I’m sure you will do the same. My comments will be in italics.

Here are the ingredients:

2 dozen Krispy Kreme donuts (I used donuts from the shop on the corner with the sign that says, "Donuts, Ice Cream, Hot Dogs, Chinese food". I just like them better than those Krispy Kreme air puffs.)
1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated)
2 (4.5-ounce) cans fruit cocktail (undrained) (I used a can of fruit cocktail and a can of peaches. It’s what I had on hand.)
2 eggs, beaten
1 (9-ounce) box raisins
1 pinch salt
1 or 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Butter Rum Sauce, recipe follows

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Cube donuts into a large bowl. Pour other ingredients on top of donuts and let soak for a few minutes. Mix all ingredients together until donuts have soaked up the liquid as much as possible.

Bake for about 1 hour until center has jelled. Top with Butter Rum Sauce.

Butter Rum Sauce:
1 stick butter
1 pound box confectioners’ sugar
Rum, to taste (I have a HEALTHY taste!)

Melt butter and slowly stir in confectioners’ sugar. Add rum and heat until bubbly. Pour over each serving of Krispy Kreme Bread Pudding.

This is an awesome desert and it is simple to make.

Enjoy!
